Next year’s Jordan Brand line-up seems to shaping up nicely. We’ve already previewed several models which are slated to release, putting fanatics in awe. Here we feature the Air Jordan 6 (VI) - Black / Red which are highly anticipated. They sport a predominantly black upper constructed from a durabuck-like material, along with varsity red accents. They are slated to release in January 2010, and will keep sneaker fiends frozen in anticipation until that day comes. When I first discovered they were going to retro the black VIs again, I was elated. Finally, a chance to own one of my favorites since I missed out on the ‘00 retros. Then I saw the pictures, and I think I’ll be skipping on these. Way too many things that don’t do these shoes justice.
#1. No “infared (not infrared)” = BIG no-no. That’s what made these shoes.
#2. The back of these should be Nubuck leather, not suede (which looks incredibly cheap).
#3. The grade of suede leather being used on these retros looks really low quality compared to the originals, and the ‘00 retros.
#4. The Jumpman logo on the back really doesn’t look right on these shoes, in comparison to the Nike AIR logo that were on the originals and ‘00 retros.
The only change made to these shoes that I actually kind of like is the black air pockets. I actually think that looks great in the clear soles. However, the rest of it is a downright disgrace to the originals, both in looks, and in quality. I can understand it’s ‘09, and maybe they’re trying to do something different, or that the economy is struggling, and they had to skimp out a bit. But if you’re going to charge $25 more than you used to for the same shoes (the originals and last retros were also 9 years apart, but sold at the same price, so please don’t tell me “inflation”), you had better produce BETTER quality, or at LEAST the same……..not WORSE. Major disappointment. =(
But I know what I say won’t make a difference, as the majority of Jordan heads will go out and blindly pay the $150+ for these regardless. This is why JB knows they can get away with murder on quality and lack of loyalty to the originals.

These are very close to the originals. People are being a little too picky. I have the OG’s and the retro’s in this shoe. I still sport my retros all the time and people stop me all the time when I wear them. I will buy these as well. When these were retroed a few years back…some had the red jumpman logo on the back. Dont think thats true…go to jumpman23.com and look.
Not a bad shoe I gotta see in person. I saw a video side by side comparison of these and infareds. infareds popped compared to these. At least we get a decent colorway that looks better than fusions we’ve been laughin at this last year and some clown colorways that are gonna be poppin out in 2010
Not being picky at all, Paulie. It just doesn’t make sense to have a retro colorway this close to the originals, except intentionally off by the shade of red used. I also know they’re most likely not going to put the Nike AIR logo on any Jordan shoe ever again. My far bigger concern is the OBVIOUSLY cheap looking leather being used on these. It’s pretty bad when the poor quality is that visible even in photos. I know most Jordan heads will buy them, and so does Jordan Brand. That’s why they keep making crap quality retros. They know they can get away with it.

I had a pair of these stolen from my locker at the YMCA when I was 14 years old. I mowed many lawns for those rides. When I discovered them missing, I declared: “I’m gonna get ‘em back!” I am going to get them back! Infra red–schmimfra red, nubuck schmubuck.

I agree with DEEK to a certain extent, i still like the shoe despite the low quality put into it! i prolly wouldnt cop if i had to pay full price but i work at FOOT LOCKER and can get a pair for $100 so thats wat sold me on em!
