new-balance-574-clip-pack-1

New Balance Lifestyle comes out guns blazing for their first project with the 574 Clips Collection. The company decides to pay homage to its Massachusetts manufacturing plant by utilizing salvaged materials from the now defunct factory and even etching USA onto the heel. Furthermore each shoe has a short film and polaroid to accompany it that spotlights its distinct journey to reach the consumer. Only 480 have been manufactured so the limited edition kicks are numbered on the back of the polaroid that is also placed inside of the box. This number can be entered into the 574 Clips website for the owner to claim the pair and then widgets will be available to share via social networking sites to show that the owner does infact have a very rare pair.

574 Clips stays true to the 574’s premium design and comfort technologies, but acquires its name from being constructed of leftover clips of materials from other New Balance “Made in the USA” silhouettes, specifically the 993 and 996. Typically constructed of cow suede, the evolved 574 will feature supple grey pig suede, which comes from the leftover materials of the 993 stitched together with one of four different colored surplus meshes from the construction of the 996. The 574 Clips Campaign was designed to highlight the individualistic nature of each shoe. The campaign will be centered around a website that will feature 480 short videos. 480 video clips were recorded of each of the shoes’ unique experience before reaching the consumer. These videos were shot at locations throughout the US including Los Angeles, New York City and Lawrence, Massachusetts, where the shoes are manufactured. Clocking in at 120 pairs per color there are four colorways available and the shoes will go for a modest $75 at Reed Space in NYC, Shoe Gallery in Miami, Bodega in Boston, Commonwealth in DC, Premium Goods in Houston, St. Alfreds in Chicago, Burn Rubber in Royal Oak, Sole Boutique in San Antonio, Goods in Seattle, and Undefeated in LA.
