In 2004, Nike designed a special pair of Nike Air Trainer 1 for well known Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli. The shoe features a black/khaki premium leather upper along with white contrast stitching and a fabric-padded heel. Kweli’s 2004 album The Beautiful Struggle is inspiration for the words Beautiful Ones, which is stitched onto the heel panel. Only 25 pairs were created, and given to close friends and family of the rapper, as well as some extremely lucky employees in Beaverton. One pair has made its way onto eBay, and is selling now at a BIN price of $1,588.99.
