In 1996 a 17 year old kid was drafted 13th in the first round by the Charlotte Hornets, and was then exchanged for Vladi Divac in one of the best trades in NBA history. That kid was Kobe Bryant and these kicks are in commemoration. After clinching his 4th NBA championship Nike is set to release these Kobe IV’s in the Charlotte Hornets colorway to commemorate his illustrious career. The heel tab denotes the day of the draft while the heel also hosts his jersey number. The purple and teal flywire leather performance shoe is set to drop sometime in July (Update: They are available now at Footlocker.com)

Damn, LOL, can’t believe it has come to this. Shoes that commemorate a team that a player was drafted by but never played for? What’s next? Seattle Air Pippens?
