Purple and retro are the names of the game when it comes to this mid-top version of pro-skater Johnny Layton’s first signature shoe. Skate happy and 70s in the Vans J-Lay Mid - Fade (Purple).
A mid-top that really demands attention, the J-Lay features a purple gradient upper, purple laces, and purple inner lining. A purple line accents the white midsole, while snazzy single and double stitching traces wavy designs into the suede/canvas.
Of course, J-Lay would never design something that didn’t look AND feel good. The shoe feels light and comfortable, and made to last. The vulcanized rubber outsole, improved cushioning system, and the latest in footbed technology, all go towards making a solid skate shoe. And of course, don’t forget the Vans classic treaded outsole for maximum grip.

The fade on these is nice. I think they should of chosen a different color though
I like the fade and the color, but i think they should have used a different material. I dont really like the canvas on em. I would like to see the fade on these in different colorways to.
I like the idea, but the fade doesn’t look well executed to me. I think it’d look better if the midsole were a bit darker towards the toe.
The fading purple is nice but I just don’t like how much of the shoe is the outsole…

these arent very attractive at all. Love purple but not its use here. These I give about a C-. They just dont look great at all.
Nuh uh. Vans are starting to lose credibility in my book for these. That’s like -30 points. lol Yeah if they didn’t look like somebody threw them in the washing machine and put in a purple shirt on accident and the color rinsed out lol.
