Ever wonder what happens when you give a professional skateboarder with a soft spot for 80s fashion the chance to design a shoe? Great kicks, that’s what!
Check out the Emerica Braydon High – Black / Purple designed by Braydon Szafranski.
This high-top features black and white suede upper give it a monochrome look, while the midsole hints at color with some pebbled grey and bright purple flair. Make sure to check out the outsole, because that’s where the shoe gets really wild – angular patterns, the bright purple of the Emerica logo, and a splash of green take the stage.
The design not only looks good, but gives you a little bit of Brandon as well. The purple heel logo references the legendary (and infamous) Californian crew of skateboarders and artists, the Piss Drunx, which Braydon forms a part of. The insoles also have crap table designs on them to give a shoutout to Brandon’s hometown of Las Vegas.
Of course, this is not a case of form over function, as Braydon has designed a really solid skate shoe. The construction protects your feet with shock-absorbing STI foam footbed cushioning, a System G2 heel pad, and a padded tongue and collar. The 400 NBS rubber outsole and zigzag tread pattern offer flexibility, while the mesh in the upper allows for breathability.
