Air Jordan 2009 - Release Reminder

A few weeks ago we covered the release of the Air Jordan 2009 S23 at Footlocker’s House of Hoops in Harlem, and we just wanted to know that the first general release for the Air Jordan 2009 model took place today. Designed by Jason Mayden, the shoes are inspired by the defensive play of Michael Jordan. The AJ 2009 also draws inspiration from the sport of fencing, features which are most noticeable along the upper’s pleated panels and wire mesh ventilation. Jordan Brand also introduces Articulated Propulsion Technology, or APT, which was inspired by elements of prosthetic running technology that Paralympians such as Jordan Brand athlete April Holmes use in competition. Hints of this are seen on the shoe’s heel area. The APT energy return system aims to offer support and explosive feedback for an athlete during play with the help of two engineered platforms along the outsole that help to give a propelling sensation. Along with the heel and forefoot Zoom Air Units, there is a third heel Zoom Air unit embedded in the insole for added cushioning. All of these features help establish the AJ 2009 as one of the best basketball shoes ever created. They retail for $190+, but do you guys think they are worth it? via NiceKicks.

I can’t drop 190 for these shoes man. Id pay 130 for em tho. When the black friday xx3′s dropped I got the bulls and the unc’s because they were that dope. But 190 for these? Not happenin. I understand the thought behind these, I’ve watched all of Maydens interviews and I’m still not feeling these enough to cop. But with that said I still think they’d be great for balling in, but as for casual wear I think not.

The store down the street from my crib was offering them for $120 because nobody was buying these. I told them to tell me when they hit $60 and I’d consider. I’m from he Chi and a huge MJ head, but PASS….

To me they look much like the XIV’s except these have much better technology. Personally I don’t think they are the illest Jordan’s but won’t be surprised if people started really liking these later on.

These are okay. Why didn’t they just call them the 24s though

  • CJ Douty

I guess they wanted to stop the line at his number, but technically they are the 24s just not called it. I think theyre kinda ugly, but i’ve been up close and personal with em and they reallll nice. i like them a lot.
