Kanye’s Graduation vs 50’s Curtis album received the most hype we’ve ever seen for an album release date. Both cd’s released September 11th, but this was not Kanye’s original release date. Ye stated the date was pushed back to 9/11/07 because the artwork for the album wasn’t ready. Japanese artist Takashi Murakami (Kaikai KiKi Co) was the person who designed the artwork for the Graduation cover. As you may already know Graduation bet Curtis in first week sales; 957,000 to 691,000 in units sold.
Kanye West has always been a trend setter when it comes to fashion, and the glasses he wore in the Stronger video had people going nuts. The Graduation hype inspired the professional sneaker custom artist emmanueLabor to make a pair of Graduation Dunk Hi’s. This is what you get when the 3 Bears SB Dunks meet the Graduation album. They feature fur which represents Kanye’s bear mascot, the blinds from Kanye’s glasses in Stronger, graphics from the artwork, and the purple midsole compliments the background color of the album.
We’ve seen tons of customs before, but none with this much thought and detail. As of right now we don’t know if they will be available for sale. Once Kanye finds out about them you can bet he’s going to want a few pairs for his collection. Also, word is Ye will also get his own signature shoe with Nike.
